Volunteers (Top of page)

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is very fortunate to be augmented by a large pool of civilian volunteers. Our volunteers assist with office duties, staff satellite stations, and our Chaplain Unit, Citizen Patrol, Mounted Posse, and Search and Rescue, and TRIAD units are comprised totally of volunteers. Another important volunteer unit is our Reserve Deputy Sheriffs. The Reserves frequently assist full-time deputies in Jail and Patrol duties.
Approximately sixty additional volunteers work in our substations and as support staff in the main office.
Our volunteers have donated over 62,000 hours of service. Calculating the national average worth of volunteer work, our volunteers have saved our county in excess of $1,022,000.00
Anyone interested in joining our volunteer programs should call 775-782-9931
